Eurotard Microfiber V-Waist Athletic Shorts | Womens (44329)
Ask anyone who wears v front dance shorts why they switched, and the answer is nearly always the same: the waistband finally stopped fighting them. On the Eurotard 44329, the V front isn’t a styling flourish — it’s an engineering choice. There’s no elastic in the waistband at all. The fabric itself holds the short in place, the V shape follows the natural dip of the hips instead of cutting a straight line across them, and nothing rolls, folds, or digs when you hinge, jump, or sit into a straddle.
The body of the short is Tactel® microfiber — the soft, stretchy workhorse fabric of Eurotard’s athletic line. It moves moisture off the skin during long rehearsals, springs back to its original shape wash after wash, and holds its black without going gray.
What makes V front dance shorts sit flat on the hips?
A conventional short gathers fabric onto a stretched piece of elastic — which means the elastic is always squeezing, and any twist in the channel becomes a permanent ridge. The 44329 skips the elastic entirely. The waistband is cut from the same stretch microfiber as the body and shaped into a V that mirrors the pelvis, so tension spreads across the whole band instead of concentrating in a line. The practical result: no red mark at the end of rehearsal, no waistband creeping down mid-combination, and a smooth line under a fitted top or leotard.
Is the inseam actually longer?
Slightly, and deliberately. These sit between a dance brief and a bike short — enough length to keep coverage secure through kicks, floor work, and stunting, without reaching the knee-bound look of compression shorts. It’s the length dance teams, cheer squads, and color guard programs tend to standardize on for exactly that reason: athletic coverage that still reads as dancewear.
Who reaches for these shorts?
This is the crossover piece in the shorts wall. Dancers wear them over tights or bare-legged for jazz, contemporary, and rehearsal weeks; cheerleaders and color guard members wear them for practice; and plenty come back for a second pair as everyday athletic shorts. If a studio, squad, or guard needs one short everyone can agree on, the 44329’s combination of coverage, comfort, and durability is usually where the vote lands.
How do these differ from the mesh petal shorts we carry?
Different jobs. Our Eurotard mesh petal shorts are a sheer layer that goes over a leotard — decorative, translucent, ballet-leaning. The 44329 is the opposite: an opaque, athletic short that works as the bottom itself. If you’re layering over a leotard for ballet class, choose the petal short; if you need a real short for jazz, rehearsal, cheer, or guard, this is the one. We’re happy to show you both side by side in the store.

Sizing Guide — Eurotard Adult Apparel
Eurotard sizes adult apparel by body measurement, not by usual store size. For these shorts, waist and hip measurements matter most. Because the waistband has no elastic to cinch in slack, fitting to your actual measurements matters more here than with a gathered short — when in doubt between two sizes, match the hips.
| Size | Height | Waist | Hips |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS (0–2) | 58–63″ (147–160 cm) | 22–24″ (56–61 cm) | 31–34″ (79–86 cm) |
| S (2–4) | 60–66″ (152–168 cm) | 23–26″ (58–66 cm) | 33–36″ (84–91 cm) |
| M (6–8) | 61–69″ (155–175 cm) | 25–28″ (64–71 cm) | 35–38″ (89–97 cm) |
| L (10–12) | 63–71″ (160–180 cm) | 28–32″ (71–81 cm) | 38–41″ (97–104 cm) |

Best For
- Jazz, contemporary, and rehearsal wear — over tights or on their own
- Cheer and color guard practice uniforms
- Dancers who can’t stand rolled or digging elastic waistbands
- Long rehearsal days where moisture-wicking fabric earns its keep
- A reliable black short that matches any team or studio dress code
A Note from August MuseWaistbands are personal — some dancers never think about them, and some can’t get through barre without readjusting one. If you’re the second kind, try these on. The elastic-free V front is one of those small designs you feel the benefit of within one class, and the Tactel microfiber is the reason these shorts outlast cheaper practice shorts two-to-one. The honest note: with no elastic to take up slack, size matters more here than usual — if your waist and hips land in different sizes on the chart, fit the hips and come see us if you’re unsure.
