Energetiks Child Seamless Body Stocking

The Energetiks CB16 is the simple, everyday version of the dancer’s “nudie” — a flesh-toned, seamless base layer worn under costumes and leotards for smooth, line-free coverage. Where the CB17 adds convertible straps for tricky necklines, the CB16 keeps it straightforward with fixed shoulder straps that just work under standard costumes, at a lower price.

Flat stitching keeps the whole garment smooth against the skin, so nothing prints through, and the low back sits below most scoop- and open-back styles.

  • Seamless with flat stitching — smooth, no lines through costumes
  • Fixed shoulder straps — simple, secure, no fuss
  • Low back — works under scoop- and open-back styles
  • ProForm Liteâ„¢ fabric — lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking
  • Available in nude shades at August Muse

Energetiks CB16 – Seamless Body Stocking | Child

A seamless dance body stocking is the quiet piece that makes a costume look right — a flesh-toned one-piece worn underneath for coverage and a smooth line, with nothing showing through. The Energetiks CB16 is the most straightforward version of that essential. Dancers call it a “nudie,” and this one keeps things simple: seamless construction, a low back, and fixed shoulder straps that sit comfortably under everyday leotards and standard-neckline costumes. It’s the practical, lower-cost base layer most families reach for first.

If your dancer needs reliable coverage for class and for costumes with ordinary straps and necklines, this is the piece that does the job without any extra parts to fuss with.

What is a body stocking, and why do dancers call it a “nudie”?

A body stocking is a close-fitting, flesh-toned undergarment shaped like a leotard. Dancers nickname it a “nudie” because, in the right shade, it reads as skin under stage lights rather than as clothing. It does a few jobs at once: coverage under sheer or fitted costumes, a clean line with no visible underwear, and a little light support so a young dancer feels secure. For a child in a costume that’s more revealing than her usual dancewear, it’s also simply reassuring — she’s covered and free to move.

Why flat stitching matters in a seamless dance body stocking

The CB16’s distinguishing feature is how smooth it is. It’s built with flat stitching, which means the seams that do exist lie flat against the body instead of forming ridges. Combined with the seamless construction, that’s what lets it disappear under a fitted or lightweight costume — there are no raised seam lines to telegraph through the fabric. For everyday wear under a class leotard, it also means no rubbing or pressure marks during long stretches of barre and floor work.

How is the CB16 different from the CB17?

This is the question worth answering before you buy, because the two look almost identical on the hanger. The CB16 (this one) has fixed shoulder straps and comes in three nude shades — it’s the simpler, more economical pick, ideal when costumes have standard straps and necklines, or when you just need a dependable base layer for class. The CB17 has convertible multiway straps that reposition or come off entirely, plus a wider shade range — it’s the one to choose when a dancer has several costumes with different necklines (halter, strapless, low-back) and you want a single undergarment that adapts to all of them. If you’re outfitting for one or two ordinary costumes, the CB16 is usually all you need. If the season’s costumes are all over the place, the CB17 earns its higher price.

What is it made from?

The CB16 is made from Energetiks’ ProForm Liteâ„¢ — a lighter version of their performance fabric that keeps the breathability and moisture-wicking of their heavier ranges with a soft, comfortable hand feel. (Energetiks is gradually moving this style to ProForm EcoLiteâ„¢, the same lightweight fabric made from recycled plastic bottles.) The light weight matters under a costume: it adds coverage without adding heat or bulk under stage lights, so a dancer stays comfortable through a full performance day.

Sizing Guide — Energetiks Child Sizes

Energetiks sizing runs snug, which is what you want in an undergarment — it should sit close to the body so it stays invisible under a costume. If your dancer is between sizes, size up; a body stocking that’s slightly roomy is more comfortable for a full performance day than one that’s too tight. Girth (measured from shoulder, through the body, and back up) is the key number for a one-piece like this. We’re glad to measure in store.

Size AUS Size Approx. Age Height Bust Waist Hip Girth

Best For

  • Everyday coverage under class leotards and standard-neckline costumes
  • Smooth, line-free coverage under fitted or lightweight costume fabric
  • A dancer’s first nudie — simple, dependable, lower cost
  • Young dancers who want to feel covered and secure in a costume
  • Families who don’t need convertible straps and prefer a no-fuss base layer
  • Ages approximately 5–13 (Child XSml–XLge)

A Note from August MuseWhen a family comes in needing something to wear under a recital costume and the costume has ordinary straps, this is the one we usually suggest first. The CB16 does exactly what a nudie should — keeps a young dancer covered and confident, and keeps the line clean so nothing distracts from the performance — without the extra cost of convertible straps she may not need. If her costumes this season vary a lot in neckline, that’s when we’d point you to the CB17 instead. The honest trade-off here is care: it’s hand wash only, so it asks for a little more attention than a machine-washable leotard.

Shade is what makes a nudie work — the goal is for it to read as skin, not stand out. Come in and we’ll help you match the right tone and get the size right the first time.
