R-Class CL80 Toccata Pointe Shoe

Some feet spread and “give” under a dancer’s weight — a fuller, compressible forefoot that needs to start in a roomy box but then wants holding once it’s loaded on pointe. The R-Class CL80 Toccata is built for exactly that foot. A tapered box keeps the line elegant, while long pasted wings reach further up the sides of the foot to provide lateral support and keep the dancer from sinking or spreading out of alignment. A high crown and arch add the lift a fuller, higher-volume foot needs.

The Toccata is part of R-Class’s Classic Symphony Collection, made with traditional turned construction for a soft, pliable, distinctly Russian feel.

  • Tapered box with long wings — lateral support for compressible forefeet
  • High crown and arch for fuller feet and higher insteps
  • Traditional turned, pleated construction — pliable, molds to the foot
  • Integrated 3/4 shank; U-cut vamp with drawstring, plus a V-vamp option
  • Soft, Medium, and Hard shanks; widths 1–6; sizes 210–280

R-Class CL80 Toccata – Classic Symphony Collection Pointe Shoe

The Supportive R-Class CL80 Toccata makes supportive pointe shoes for compressible feet — the foot that feels roomy when you first put the shoe on, then spreads and “gives” once the dancer’s full weight comes down on pointe. That kind of foot is hard to fit: too snug at rest and it’s painful, too loose under load and the dancer sinks and rolls out of alignment. The Toccata solves it with a tapered box for a clean line and long pasted wings that reach further up the sides of the foot to hold it laterally exactly when it tries to spread. A high crown and arch give the lift a fuller, higher-volume foot needs to get over the platform.

It’s part of R-Class’s Classic Symphony Collection, so under that supportive structure it still has the soft, pliable feel of traditional turned construction.

What makes these pointe shoes for compressible feet?

A compressible foot is one with soft tissue that flattens and widens under load — common with fuller forefeet. The challenge is that the foot needs a generous box to begin with, but that same generous box can leave the dancer unsupported once the foot compresses into it. The Toccata’s answer is the wings: the pasted side panels of the box are extended long, so they wrap higher along the foot and resist the sideways spread. Instead of sinking into a roomy box and losing alignment, the dancer is guided and held as the foot loads. The tapered box shape means all of that support comes without a wide, boxy look — the line stays elegant on stage.

Why the high crown and arch?

“Crown” is the height of the box over the top of the foot, and the CL80 runs a high crown along with a higher arch profile. Fuller feet and higher insteps need that vertical room; in a low shoe they feel pressed down and can’t articulate properly. The high crown lets a voluminous foot sit in the shoe naturally and helps the dancer rise up and over the platform rather than being held back by a box that’s too shallow for the foot’s depth. Paired with the lateral wings, it’s a shape built around volume and support together — room where the foot is full, holding where it spreads.

How do the vamp and shank options work?

The Toccata comes standard with a U-cut vamp and drawstring, and also offers a V-vamp for a more traditional Russian look and a different kind of support across the instep — useful depending on how a particular foot compresses. The integrated 3/4 shank gives firm support through the rise while staying flexible through the demi-pointe, and comes in Soft, Medium, and Hard to match the dancer’s strength. Because the right vamp and shank for a compressible foot depend on how that specific foot behaves under load, this is a shoe where the fitting really earns its keep.

How does the Toccata fit within the R-Class lineup at August Muse?

Inside the Classic Symphony line, the CL80 Toccata is the tapered-but-supportive option for fuller, compressible forefeet. The CL60 Crescenda is the balanced, versatile all-rounder; the CL70 Arpeggia is the square box for square and peasant feet; and the CL90 Legata is the broadest, highest-volume shape for very wide feet and high arches. The useful contrast is Toccata versus Legata: both suit fuller feet, but the Toccata keeps a tapered line and adds wings to control compression, while the Legata simply opens up to maximum width and volume. Which one a dancer needs comes down to how the foot behaves under weight — something we assess in the fitting room.

Sizing & Fitting Guide

R-Class pointe shoes use metric sizing — sizes 210 through 280, which roughly track foot length in millimeters (size 240 ≈ 24.0 cm / about 9.4 in of foot length), in widths 1 (narrowest) through 6 (widest); the smallest sizes (210–225) run in widths 1–5. This is not your street-shoe size. A compressible foot is fitted for how it behaves under load, not just at rest, so shank strength and vamp choice are as important as length and width here.

Spec Range
Sizes 210–280 (metric; ≈ 21.0–28.0 cm / 8.3–11.0 in foot length)
Widths 1–6 (210–225 in widths 1–5; 230–280 in widths 1–6)
Shanks Soft, Medium, Hard
Vamp U-cut with drawstring; V-vamp option

Pointe shoes are not sized like regular shoes, and a poor fit can cause injury. This information is orientation only — never a substitute for a professional in-person fitting. Please book a fitting at August Muse so we can size you safely on your own foot.

Best For

  • Dancers with fuller, compressible forefeet that spread under load
  • Dancers who sink or roll out of alignment in a roomy box
  • Dancers with higher insteps or dorsal volume who need crown and arch height
  • Dancers who want lateral support but still want a tapered, elegant line
  • Dancers who benefit from a choice between U-cut and V-vamp fitting
A Note from August MuseWe’re glad to carry R-Class, an independent, women-owned pointe shoe brand. The Toccata is the shoe we think of for a dancer whose foot is full and soft — the kind that feels fine standing still but spreads and sinks the moment she’s fully on pointe. Those long wings really do hold the foot where it wants to give, and the tapered box keeps the line clean while doing it. The honest part: all that lateral structure is built for a compressible foot, so on a firm, narrow foot it’s more shoe than the dancer needs. The way to know is to load the foot on pointe in a fitting and watch what it actually does — come in and we’ll do exactly that.

R-Class is an independent brand and is not affiliated with Bloch or the Russian Pointe® brand. We fit pointe shoes by appointment at our shop in downtown Elizabethton, TN.
