Freed Classic Professional 90 Pointe Shoe

Freed Classic Professional 90 pointe shoes take the Classic Professional’s 3/4 shank and refine it further with a true 90-degree platform — a flat, dependable surface that centers the dancer squarely en pointe instead of gently angling them up and over the box. Paired with a wide U-cut vamp, it is built for the experienced dancer who wants stability over propulsion.

  • 3/4 shank for a more articulated demi-pointe and roll-through
  • True 90-degree platform for dependable, centered stability
  • Wide, U-shaped vamp
  • Light wing block with a strong block and platform; elastic drawstring
  • Hand-lasted by an individual master maker, stamped with their mark

Freed of London Classic Pro 90 Pointe Shoe

Freed Classic Pro 90 pointe shoes are the legendary Classic Professional built around a true right-angle platform instead of a pitched one. Hand-crafted by a limited number of master makers, it keeps the Classics Collection’s 3/4 shank, strong block, and light wing block, but trades the standard Professional’s gently angled platform for a dependable 90-degree surface, and its slight V-cut vamp for a wider U-shaped one. The result is a more technical, centrally stable shoe for a dancer who wants the platform to hold steady rather than help carry the foot up.

The defining feature here is the true 90-degree platform. Where a pitched platform meets the foot partway through its angle on the way up, a true right-angle platform sits flat and square, offering the same stable surface to balance on no matter how the foot arrives at it.

What does a true 90-degree platform actually change?

Platform angle determines how a shoe meets the foot once it reaches full pointe. A pitched platform is shaped to the en pointe angle itself, easing the foot up and over the box. A true 90-degree platform sits at a flat right angle to the shank, which gives the dancer a dependable, centered surface to find and hold balance on, rather than a platform that is already angled to help propel them there. For a dancer doing extended balances, multiple pirouettes, or work that demands a rock-solid platform underfoot, that flat stability tends to matter more than the gentle assist a pitched platform offers.

How does the Classic Professional 90 differ from the Classic Professional?

Both share the same 3/4 shank, light wing block, and lower-cut sides — the difference is the platform and vamp. The Classic Professional uses a pitched platform with a slight V-cut vamp, built to help propel a strong foot up and over the box. The Classic Professional 90 uses a true 90-degree platform with a wider U-cut vamp, built for stability and a centered balance once en pointe. Dancers who want help getting up onto pointe tend to prefer the Professional; dancers who want a flatter, steadier platform to hold balance on tend to prefer the Professional 90.

Who are Freed Classic Professional 90 pointe shoes best for?

This shoe suits the experienced student or professional-track dancer who has completed their basic pointe training and wants a true right-angle platform under a 3/4 shank. It rewards a foot strong enough to find and hold a centered balance on a flat platform rather than relying on the shoe’s shape to help find that angle. A newer dancer is usually better served by the full shank of the plain Classic or Classic Deep Vamp while their strength and balance develop — and that is a conversation we are glad to have with you in person.

Sizing & Fitting

We do not publish a pointe shoe size chart for the Classic Professional 90, by design. Pointe sizing does not follow street shoe size, and the right size, width, and shank come down to your foot shape, strength, and level — and with a 3/4 shank, strength matters more, not less. A wrong fit is uncomfortable at best and a real injury risk at worst. The Classic Professional 90 comes in a range of sizes, widths, and makers so it can be matched to your foot, and that match only happens in person.

If you have already been professionally fitted in the Freed Classic Professional 90 and know your exact size, width, shank, and maker, you are welcome to reorder your pair from us. If this is your first time in this shoe — or your feet, strength, or level have changed — please come in and let us fit you first.

Best For

  • Experienced students and professional-track dancers who have completed basic pointe training
  • Dancers who want a true right-angle platform for dependable, centered balance
  • Feet that hold a stronger, more stable line on a flat platform than a pitched one
  • Dancers who prefer a wider U-cut vamp over the Professional’s slight V-cut
  • Anyone doing extended balances or turning work that asks for a rock-solid platform
A Note from August Muse

We tend to bring this one out once a dancer is already comfortable on a 3/4 shank and is chasing a steadier platform for turns and balances rather than help getting up onto pointe. If you have not yet tried the standard Classic Professional, it is worth feeling both — the pitched platform and the true 90-degree platform genuinely feel different underfoot, and which one suits you is not something we can guess from a spec sheet.

Pointe is never a guess in our shop. Come see us in downtown Elizabethton for a proper fitting. If you already dance in the Classic Professional 90 and know your maker, call or stop in and we will get your pair.
