Suffolk Signet Pointe Shoes – Emplacement Collection
Reliable Suffolk Signet pointe shoes use Suffolk’s patented design to help all dancers get over the platform and into proper placement, so the dancer feels supported while being lifted and elevated into correct alignment. The Signet features a lower profile and strong wings, a slight taper that’s comfortable across the metatarsals, and a broad platform that stays stable en pointe. It’s perfect for dancers working on their placement and helps prevent the shank from twisting off the heel while en pointe. It’s handmade using the Premiere Collection pasting method in Suffolk’s company-owned factory, and it’s part of the Emplacement Collection.
One honest note up front: a pointe shoe is the one piece of dancewear you should never buy by guessing. The right box, width, and shank depend on the shape and strength of your foot, and the wrong shoe can cause injury. Everything below is here to help you understand the Signet — the fit itself belongs in person.
What is the Emplacement Collection?
The Emplacement Collection is Suffolk’s placement-and-stability line, designed for a wide range of dancers — from beginners to dancers who need extra support and stability. The shoes are built around a broader platform that makes balancing easier and a patented design that assists the dancer into proper placement, eliminating twisting so the shank stays in line with the heel. That stability helps a dancer develop motor and muscle memory in correct alignment, get fully over the box without knuckling or curling the toes, and pull up to feel lifted in the shoe. The hardest paste in the toe box adds to that stable feel, and the shoes come in light or standard shanks for support that still conforms to the arch.
What makes the Suffolk Signet pointe shoes different?
Within the Emplacement Collection, the Signet is the lower-profile shoe. Its lower profile and strong wings give a secure, held feeling without a tall box, and the slight taper is what sets it apart — it’s shaped to sit comfortably across the metatarsals, which many dancers find more forgiving than a blunt, square box. The broad platform keeps it stable for balances, and the patented design helps the dancer get over the box and stops the shank from twisting off the heel. It’s also made with the Premiere Collection pasting method, so there’s real structure behind that comfortable taper.
How does the Signet compare to the Savoy?
The Signet and the Savoy are the two shoes in the Emplacement Collection, and they share the same broad, stable platform, strong wings, patented placement help, and light-or-standard shank. The difference is the profile. The Signet has a lower profile with a slight taper that’s comfortable across the metatarsals; the Savoy has a medium profile and leans on deterring sitting back in the shoe. If your foot suits a lower profile, or you find a tapered box more comfortable across the toes, the Signet is usually the one to try first — and a fitting will tell you quickly which of the two sits better on your foot.

Care Instructions
| Step | Instruction |
|---|---|
| Drying | Air dry fully between wears — never sealed in a bag; alternate pairs when you can |
| Moisture | Keep dry; the natural paste softens with sweat and damp, which shortens shoe life |
| Storage | Store in a breathable mesh bag, away from heat |
| Do not | Machine wash, soak, or tumble dry — water breaks down the box and shank |
| Note | Pointe shoes are fitted, worn footwear and cannot be returned once danced in |
What shank options does the Signet come in?
The Signet comes in two shank strengths: light and standard. The shank is the spine that runs under the arch. There are many variables in why one strength works better than another for a given dancer — including how you’ll be dancing in the shoe — so the right shank is a preference worked out between the dancer and the fitter at the fitting, not something set by level or experience. We’ll go through the options with you in store.
Best For
- Lower-profile feet that want a secure, supported fit
- Dancers who find a tapered box more comfortable across the toes
- Dancers working on placement and alignment
- Those who want a broad, stable platform with strong wings
- Dancers coming in to be fitted for an Emplacement Collection shoe
Please Get Fitted — Don’t Order Pointe Shoes Online
Pointe shoes are not street shoes, and they should never be ordered online without a professional fitting. The Signet is made in a full run of lengths and in widths from N to XXXX, in light and standard shank — and the right combination is different for every foot. A shoe that’s even slightly off can roll a dancer back onto her arch, crush her toes, or invite injury.
That’s why we don’t publish a size-yourself chart here. If you’re new to the Signet or just curious, come try it on — a fitting takes the guesswork out and lets you feel it next to the Savoy and our other shoes. Once you know your exact Signet size, width, and shank, reordering the same shoe is simple — many dancers come in once, find their fit, and reorder confidently from there.

Any size or width information you find online for this shoe is orientation only and is not a substitute for an in-person fitting. Fit affects safety with pointe shoes — please be fitted before your first pair.
A Note from August MuseThe Signet is a lovely option for a dancer who wants the support and placement help of the Emplacement shoes but does better in a lower profile — and that slight taper across the metatarsals is genuinely more comfortable for a lot of feet. I’ll tell you the same thing I would across the counter: lower-profile and tapered fits are exactly the kind of thing you have to feel, so this is one to come in for. Bring your current shoes if you have them, and we’ll see whether the Signet or the Savoy sits better on your foot.
Fittings are by appointment so we can give you our full attention — book at theaugustmuse.com/pointe-shoe-fittings.
