Energetiks Child Seamless Convertible Body Stocking

Most parents meet the body stocking right before a recital — the costume is sheer, or it’s strapless, or there’s a quick change backstage, and the dancer needs coverage that simply doesn’t show. The Energetiks CB17 is that piece. Dancers call it a “nudie”: a flesh-toned, seamless base layer worn under costumes for coverage and support without visible lines.

What sets it apart is the convertible multiway straps. They reposition or come off entirely to disappear under any neckline — halter, camisole, or low-back — so one undergarment works across a whole season of costumes.

  • Seamless stitching — no seam lines show through costumes
  • Convertible multiway straps — adapt to any neckline or go strapless
  • Low back — sits below open- and scoop-back costumes
  • ProForm Liteâ„¢ fabric — lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking
  • Available in a range of nude shades at August Muse

Available in store at August Muse in downtown Elizabethton, TN.

Energetiks CB17 – Seamless Convertible Body Stocking | Child

A nude dance body stocking is the piece most families don’t know they need until the first costume arrives. The fabric is sheer in places, or the back is cut low, or the straps are thin — and suddenly a regular leotard or everyday underwear shows through in a way that distracts from the dancing. The Energetiks CB17 solves that quietly. It’s a flesh-toned, seamless one-piece worn underneath the costume to give a young dancer full coverage and a little support, without a single line showing on stage.

In studios this is the garment dancers nickname a “nudie” — and once a family has one, it tends to live in the dance bag all season, pulled out for every performance, photo day, and quick backstage change.

What is a nude dance body stocking, and why do dancers call it a “nudie”?

A body stocking is a close-fitting, flesh-toned undergarment shaped like a leotard. Dancers and teachers call it a “nudie” because, in the right shade, it reads as skin rather than clothing under stage lights. It does three jobs at once: it provides modest coverage under sheer or revealing costumes, it gives a smooth line with no visible underwear or bra straps, and it offers light support so the dancer feels secure through every movement. For a child wearing a costume that’s more revealing than her everyday dancewear, it’s also simply reassuring — she’s covered, and she can move freely without thinking about it.

How do the convertible multiway straps work?

This is the CB17’s standout feature, and the reason it’s worth choosing over a plain nude leotard. The straps are adjustable and reposition across the shoulders and back, so the same body stocking can sit under a camisole costume one weekend, a halter the next, and a low-back number after that. For strapless or one-shoulder costumes, the straps come off entirely. The straps are designed to be discreet under stage lighting, so even when they’re worn they don’t compete with the costume. One undergarment, in other words, that keeps up with a whole season of different necklines instead of needing a new piece for each.

Why a nude dance body stocking beats a regular leotard underneath

Plenty of dancers try to use a spare leotard as a base layer, and it half-works. But a standard leotard has seams that print through thin costume fabric, a colored or patterned finish that can show, and a fixed strap and back shape that fights anything cut differently. The CB17 is built specifically for the under-costume job: seamless so nothing prints through, flesh-toned so it disappears, and convertible so it adapts to the costume instead of the other way around. Within the August Muse lineup, think of your everyday Energetiks leotards (like the Ophelia camisole) as what a dancer wears to class — and the CB17 as what goes under the costume for the recital.

What is it made from, and why does seamless matter so much here?

The CB17 is made from Energetiks’ ProForm Liteâ„¢ — a lighter version of their performance fabric that keeps the breathability and moisture-wicking of their heavier ranges with an extra-soft hand feel. (Energetiks is gradually moving this style to ProForm EcoLiteâ„¢, the same lightweight fabric made from recycled plastic bottles.) Light weight matters under a costume: the body stocking adds coverage without adding bulk or heat under stage lights. Seamless construction is the other half of the equation — without seams across the chest, sides, or back, there are no ridges to telegraph through a thin or fitted costume, which is the whole point of wearing one.

Sizing Guide — Energetiks Child Sizes

Energetiks sizing runs snug, which is what you want in an undergarment — it should sit close to the body so it stays invisible under a costume. If your dancer is between sizes, size up; a body stocking that’s slightly roomy is far more comfortable for a full performance day than one that’s too tight. Girth (the measurement from shoulder, through the body, and back up) is the most important number for a one-piece like this. If you’d like help, we’re glad to measure in store.

Size AUS Size Approx. Age Height Bust Waist Hip Girth
Ch XSml 4–5 ~5 yrs 3’7″ (115 cm) 24.5″ (62 cm) 21.5″ (55 cm) 26″ (66 cm) 40″ (102 cm)

Best For

  • Recital and competition costumes that are sheer, strapless, or low-backed
  • Quick costume changes backstage where coverage matters
  • Smooth, line-free coverage under fitted or thin costume fabric
  • Young dancers who want to feel covered and secure in a more revealing costume
  • Photo day and any performance where visible underwear or straps would distract
  • Ages approximately 5–13 (Child XSml–XLge)

A Note from August Muse: This body stocking comes with matte clear straps, If your teacher prefers the nude colored straps we sell those separately. If your dancer has a recital costume coming and you’re not sure what goes underneath, this is the piece we’ll point you to. The “nudie” does a quiet but important job — it keeps a young dancer covered and confident in a costume that might be more revealing than what she’s used to, and it keeps the line clean so nothing distracts from the performance.

The convertible straps are what make it genuinely worth it: instead of buying a different undergarment for each costume’s neckline, this one adapts. The honest trade-off is care — it’s hand wash only, so it asks for a little more attention than a toss-in-the-machine leotard. Worth it for how long it lasts and how well it works.

Shade matters with a nudie — the goal is for it to read as skin, not stand out. Come in and we’ll help you match the right tone to your dancer and get the size right the first time.
