Energetiks Veronica Cap Sleeve Leotard – Child | Classic Ballet Leotard

If you’re looking for a cap sleeve leotard for girls that gives a little more coverage than a camisole or tank style, the Veronica is the one we point parents toward. The front is lined, which adds opacity through the body and a touch of built-in support — a real comfort for dancers who feel more confident in something that covers a bit more. The cap sleeves sit softly over the shoulders, and the gathered front and back give it the kind of traditional, classical look that suits a ballet class or a studio uniform.

That extra coverage is the whole reason to reach for this leotard. It keeps the polished lines of a princess-cut style, but it’s built for the dancer who wants to feel covered and secure while she’s at the barre.

What makes the Veronica a good cap sleeve leotard for girls who want more coverage?

Three things work together here. The front lining means the body of the leotard isn’t sheer and gives a smoother, more finished look. The cap sleeves cover the tops of the shoulders rather than leaving them bare, which many younger dancers and modest dress codes prefer. And the soft gathering across the front lifts the neckline into a gentle, slightly higher V — pretty, but never low or revealing. Put together, it’s one of the more covered styles in the Energetiks range without looking heavy or old-fashioned.

How is the gathered front different from the pleat front version?

This is the question we get most often, because the two look similar on the hanger. Both share the same princess cut with a V waist — vertical seaming that runs through the body to a V at the waistline, giving a long, flattering line. The difference is in the detailing. The Veronica has a softly gathered front, which sits a touch higher and creates a gentle V at the neckline, where the pleat front version uses crisp pleats and tends to open a little lower. The Veronica’s scoop back is also more modest — it doesn’t sit as open as the pleat front, so there’s more coverage across the shoulder blades. If your dancer (or her studio) prefers a higher front and a less-open back, the Veronica is the one.

Why do cap sleeves make a difference in class?

Cap sleeves cover the shoulder without adding a full sleeve, so they give more coverage than a camisole or tank while keeping the arms completely free for port de bras. They’re also easy to wear across seasons — bare enough for a warm studio in summer, but covered enough to layer a wrap or warm-up over in winter. For a dancer who isn’t quite comfortable in thin straps yet, a cap sleeve is often the style that helps her feel ready for class.

How does the ProForm EcoFlexâ„¢ fabric hold up?

The Veronica is made from ProForm EcoFlexâ„¢, Energetiks’ performance fabric crafted from recycled plastic bottles. It has a smooth, soft feel with four-way stretch, so it moves with the dancer instead of resisting her. Moisture-wicking properties pull sweat away from the skin to keep her cool and dry through active class work, and the fabric is anti-pill — it keeps its neat appearance wash after wash, which matters for a leotard that gets worn and washed every week through a full dance year.

Sizing Guide — Energetiks Child Sizes

Energetiks sizing runs snug. If your child is between sizes or you’d like a little room to grow, sizing up is generally the right call. The child Veronica (CL65) is available in XSml through XLge. For reference, Energetiks notes that Penelope — pictured in the product photos — is 155 cm (5’1″) and wears a Child Lge, which is a good reminder that fit depends on build as much as height. If you’d like help finding the right size, come in and we’ll measure in store.

Best For

  • Dancers who want more coverage than a camisole or tank leotard
  • Ballet and classical syllabus classes where a traditional look is expected
  • Studio uniform programs calling for a cap sleeve style
  • Younger or more modest dancers who feel more confident in a higher front and less-open back
  • Ages approximately 5–13 (Child XSml–XLge)
A Note from August MuseThe Veronica is the leotard we hand to a parent whose dancer wants to feel covered. The lined front, the cap sleeves, and that soft gathered neckline add up to a style that’s modest without looking fussy — and it keeps the clean princess-cut line that makes a leotard look intentional. If you’ve been deciding between this and the pleat front, the short version is this: the Veronica sits higher in front and isn’t as open in the back, so it’s the more covered of the two. Come in and we’ll let your dancer try both so she can feel the difference for herself.
