Piano Safari Interval Cards 2

Piano Safari Interval Cards 2 are a quick, hands-on way to learn intervals by sight. There are 100 cards covering every interval from a unison to an octave. Students look at each card, name the interval, and sort it into the right pile using the interval name cards, which trains them to recognize a 4th, 6th, or 7th by its shape instead of counting lines and spaces.

Piano Safari – Interval Cards Level 2

Piano Safari Interval Cards 2 are a 100-card set for practicing interval reading, from unisons up to octaves (SKU IntCards2). They’re published by Piano Safari for elementary students and work with any piano method.

The point of these cards is speed. Piano Safari teaches reading by interval, meaning students learn to see the distance between two notes rather than naming every note. That works best when a student can glance at a 5th or a 6th and know it instantly. A sorting stack of cards gives quick, low-pressure repetition away from the piano. It’s easy to do for five minutes at the kitchen table, in a lesson, or in a group class.

Who are Interval Cards 2 for?

Publisher level: Elementary.
Approximate student level: Elementary to Late Elementary.

They’re for students who already read 2nds and 3rds and are moving on to larger intervals. In the Piano Safari children’s method, that’s Levels 2 and 3, where reading grows from 2nds through octaves. Piano Safari lists ages 6–11, but any student working on interval reading can use them, from any method.

How are the cards used?

Lay out the interval name cards, then go through the stack and sort each card into the matching pile. You can start with just a few intervals and add more as the student gets quicker. Because the cards are separate from any book, they’re easy to use as review at any point.

Where do they fit with other Piano Safari cards?

Interval Cards 1 (SKU IntCards) are the earlier set, focused on 2nds and 3rds on staffs of different sizes for younger or newer readers. Interval Cards 2 pick up from there with every interval through the octave. For lesson-by-lesson reading practice, Piano Safari’s Sight Reading & Rhythm Cards follow the method books unit by unit. Interval Cards drill one skill on its own. All are at August Muse.
