The insole is reinforced to where the arch breaks and left free to the heel, giving the feel of a three-quarter shank with the strength of a full insole. The Sonnet is also lower-profile, but a touch fuller and shaped around the modern dancer’s foot, with an emphasis on an elegant line and strong support. If you want a beautiful line with a strong box and you don’t need the most extreme narrow fit, the Sonnet is usually the one to try — and a fitting will confirm it.

The Sonnet is made in a full run of lengths and in widths from N to XXXX, in standard and hard shank — and the right combination is different for every foot. A shoe that’s even slightly off can roll a dancer back onto her arch, crush her toes, or invite injury.
