Roomy R-Class CL90 LEGATA

The R-Class CL90 Legata is the brand’s broadest, roomiest pointe shoe — built for dancers with very wide feet, broad metatarsals, or high arches and tall insteps who feel crowded and pressed down in standard shapes. A spacious box and a high crown give a big, full foot the width and the vertical room it needs to settle in and roll securely over the platform.

The Legata is part of R-Class’s Classic Symphony Collection, made with traditional turned construction for a soft, pliable feel that molds to the foot.

  • The broadest shape R-Class makes — for very wide feet and broad forefeet
  • High crown for high arches, tall insteps, and high-volume feet
  • Traditional turned, pleated construction — pliable, molds to the foot
  • Integrated 3/4 shank for balance of support and flexibility
  • Soft, Medium, and Hard shanks; widths 2–6; sizes 220–270

Roomy R-Class CL90 Legata – Classic Symphony Collection Pointe Shoe

The R-Class CL90 Legata makes roomy pointe shoes for wide feet — the broadest, highest-volume shape in the entire R-Class lineup. It’s for the dancer with genuinely wide feet, broad metatarsals, or a high arch and tall instep who has spent years feeling crowded across the toes and pressed down on top of the foot. Where a standard shoe runs out of room in both directions, the Legata opens up: a spacious box gives the forefoot real width, and a high crown gives a tall, full foot the vertical space it needs to sit naturally and roll over the platform with confidence.

It’s part of R-Class’s Classic Symphony Collection, so all that room comes wrapped in the soft, pliable feel of traditional turned construction.

What makes these pointe shoes for wide feet and high arches?

Two things have to be right for a big foot: width across the forefoot and height over the top. The Legata is built on R-Class’s broadest last — the same broad foot-form behind the pleatless RC90 Enchanté — so the box is wide where wide feet need it. Just as important, it runs a high crown and a high arch profile, which matters for dancers with tall insteps or high arches who get shoved downward in a low shoe. With both the width and the height accounted for, a high-volume foot can spread into the box comfortably and still get up and over the platform instead of being held back by a shoe that’s too small in every dimension. Many wide-footed dancers describe finally feeling room to breathe in a shape like this.

Why does traditional turned construction suit a wide, high foot?

The Classic Symphony shoes are made with traditional turned, or “turn-shoe,” construction: built inside-out on the last and turned right-side out, with a pleated sole reinforced by nails and glue. That method naturally produces a higher crown and a more pliable box — exactly the qualities a broad, high-volume foot benefits from. Because the shoe is pliable, it breaks in organically and molds to the foot rather than fighting it, and the higher, softer crown helps a tall instep roll through. For a big foot, that combination of room plus give is often the difference between a shoe that’s merely large and one that actually fits.

How does the shank work on a fuller foot?

The Legata uses R-Class’s integrated 3/4 shank, which supports the dancer through the rise while staying flexible through the demi-pointe, so even a strong, heavy-loading foot can articulate rather than fight a rigid board. It comes in Soft, Medium, and Hard, and the right strength for a wide, high-volume foot depends on the dancer’s strength and how she loads the shoe — one of several reasons this shape should be fitted rather than guessed. Width and crown get a dancer into the shoe; the shank is what makes it work once she’s on pointe.

How does the Legata fit within the R-Class lineup at August Muse?

The CL90 Legata is the widest, highest-volume shoe in the Classic Symphony line — the end of the range for big feet. Next to it sits the CL80 Toccata, which also suits fuller feet but keeps a tapered box with wings for compressible forefeet; the CL70 Arpeggia, a square box for square and peasant feet; and the CL60 Crescenda, the balanced all-rounder. If a dancer’s foot is wide and high all the way through, the Legata is usually the one. If it’s full but compresses, or full but square, one of the others may fit better. R-Class also makes the pleatless RC90 Enchanté on the same broad last for dancers who prefer a sleeker, firmer feel. We sort out which shape and feel suit a foot in the fitting room.

Sizing & Fitting Guide

R-Class pointe shoes use metric sizing — sizes 220 through 270, which roughly track foot length in millimeters (size 240 ≈ 24.0 cm / about 9.4 in of foot length), in widths 2 through 6. This is not your street-shoe size. Because the Legata is the broadest shape, dancers coming from a narrower shoe often need a different width than they expect; length, width, crown, and shank all get confirmed on the foot.

Spec Range
Sizes 220–270 (metric; ≈ 22.0–27.0 cm / 8.7–10.6 in foot length)
Widths 2–6 (medium to wide)
Shanks Soft, Medium, Hard

Pointe shoes are not sized like regular shoes, and a poor fit can cause injury. This information is orientation only — never a substitute for a professional in-person fitting. Please book a fitting at August Muse so we can size you safely on your own foot.

Best For

  • Dancers with very wide feet or broad metatarsals who feel crowded across the toes
  • Dancers with high arches or tall insteps who feel pressed down in low shoes
  • High-volume feet that need both width and crown height at once
  • Dancers who want the soft, pliable feel of traditional turned construction in a wide shape
  • Dancers who have struggled to find any pointe shoe roomy enough to fit
A Note from August MuseWe’re glad to carry R-Class, an independent, women-owned pointe shoe brand. The Legata is the shoe we pull when a dancer has a genuinely big foot — wide across and high on top — and has been making do with shoes that were never roomy enough. It gives that foot width and crown height at the same time, which is exactly what’s usually missing. The honest part: this is the widest shape in the line, so on a medium or narrow foot it’s simply too much shoe and the dancer will swim in it. If you’re between the Legata and the more tapered CL80, that’s a perfect thing to settle in person — bring the foot in and we’ll see which one holds it right.

R-Class is an independent brand and is not affiliated with Bloch or the Russian Pointe® brand. We fit pointe shoes by appointment at our shop in downtown Elizabethton, TN.
