Bloch Ladies Belle Leather Ballet Shoes

The Bloch Belle is one of the few full sole ballet shoes for women we carry, built for students who want the extra floor resistance a full suede outsole gives while training. Soft leather shapes to the foot, a plush elastic topline replaces the usual drawstring, and a printed heart lining adds a touch of warmth to an otherwise no-fuss shoe.

  • Full suede outsole, heel to toe — extra resistance for developing strength
  • Soft leather upper that molds to the foot over time
  • No drawstring — plush elastic topline for a snug, secure fit
  • Pre-sewn elastic over the instep for stability
  • Printed heart sock-liner inside the shoe
  • Theatrical Pink Leather; sizes 2–8.5 in widths A through D

Bloch Belle Leather Ballet Shoe – Women’s (S0227L) | Full Sole, No Tie

Split sole shoes get most of the attention in an adult ballet wall, but full sole ballet shoes for women still have a real job to do — and the Bloch Belle is built for it. A suede outsole that runs the full length of the shoe gives the foot continuous resistance through every rise and plié, which is exactly what a student still building arch and foot strength needs more of. Add a soft leather upper and a plush elastic topline in place of the usual drawstring, and you’ve got a shoe made for training rather than performing.

Why choose a full sole over a split sole as an adult?

Split soles became the default for a reason — they let the arch show through in a demi-pointe or full pointe line, which matters most once technique is established. But a full sole still earns its place for students earlier in training, or anyone returning to ballet after time away. The unbroken suede under the arch means the foot has to work against real resistance the whole way through a rise, which builds the strength a split sole simply doesn’t demand as much of. If you’re not sure which belongs on your feet right now, that’s a five-minute conversation in the store.

What does skipping the drawstring change?

Instead of a drawstring to snug and tuck before every class, the Belle uses a plush elastic band across the topline, backed by pre-sewn elastic over the instep. The fit is set once the shoe is on — nothing loosens mid-class, nothing needs retying between combinations. It’s a small detail, but for a student who just wants to step into her shoes and get to the barre, it removes one more thing to think about.

How does the Belle compare to the Capezio Juliet?

We carry both, and the honest answer is they’re built for different feet and different points in training. The Juliet is a split sole with a drawstring — a snugger, more sculpted last that Capezio itself recommends for narrow or low-volume feet, with the drawstring giving fine control over the topline fit. The Belle is a full sole with no drawstring at all, better suited to a student still building strength or anyone who wants a simpler shoe to put on. If you’re deciding between the two, it usually comes down to where you are in training and whether you want that extra sole resistance. Try both on and the difference is obvious within a few pliés.

The size you select is Bloch’s own ballet grading, not your street shoe size — it runs about two sizes below it (a US 8 street shoe lands close to a Bloch 6). That’s the same offset as our other Bloch ballet styles, but every brand grades differently, so don’t carry a size over from a Capezio or Wear Moi shoe. This chart is a guide only and reflects Bloch’s stated conversions, not a substitute for trying the shoe on. Come in and we’ll fit length and width in person.

Best For

  • Students still building arch and foot strength
  • Dancers returning to ballet after time away
  • Anyone who prefers a simple, no-tie shoe over a drawstring
  • Studios or classes that call for a full sole shoe
  • Adults new to ballet who want a straightforward first pair

A Note from August MuseThe Belle is the shoe we point adult students toward when they’re still building strength and don’t need a split sole’s pointed line yet — the full suede sole gives the foot more to push against, and that’s genuinely useful early on. The trade-off is honest: once your arch and technique are more developed, most dancers move to a split sole like our Juliet for a cleaner line through the foot. If you’re not sure which stage you’re at, that’s exactly what a fitting is for. We’re in downtown Elizabethton — stop by and we’ll help you figure out which shoe belongs on your feet right now.
