Energetiks Ophelia Camisole – Child | Classic Camisole Ballet Leotard
The Energetiks Ophelia is a camisole ballet leotard for girls who are starting to take class seriously — and starting to care how they look while they do it. Some leotards are simply practical. The Ophelia is practical and intentionally elegant. The princess cut — vertical seam lines that run from the straps down through the body — does something a plain leotard doesn’t: it follows the shape of the torso, creating a longer, cleaner line that holds up in front of a mirror. For teachers who want the class to look cohesive and classical, that distinction matters too.
What is a princess cut, and why does it matter for a leotard?
A princess cut refers to vertical seaming that runs from the shoulder strap down through the bust and waist of the garment, rather than a single horizontal seam across the chest. The result is a fit that follows the natural curves of the body more closely. On a young dancer, this typically means a cleaner profile, less fabric bunching at the waist or chest, and a more finished overall look.
It’s also why the Ophelia is particularly well-suited for syllabus work and classical ballet classes. The silhouette is slimmer and more refined than a gathered or standard cut leotard, which aligns with what most classical technique teachers expect for class attire.
What makes the Ophelia a refined camisole ballet leotard for girls?
Beyond the seaming, it’s the restraint of the design. There are no sleeves and no skirt to manage — just fine camisole straps that leave the shoulders and arms completely free for port de bras, and a smooth, uninterrupted line from neckline to hip. For a girl moving past her first beginner classes, that simplicity reads as grown-up in the best way: it looks like the leotards she sees on the dancers a few levels ahead of her, which is often exactly the encouragement a young student wants.
How does the Ophelia differ from the Florence?
The Florence is a cap sleeve leotard with an attached skirt — an all-in-one garment that’s practical and easy for younger or newer students. The Ophelia is a sleeveless camisole leotard without a skirt, so it works as part of a coordinated class outfit or on its own in a class where a skirt isn’t required. The Ophelia’s princess cut gives it a more tailored look, and the fine spaghetti straps are more typical of classical and pre-professional dance attire. Dancers who started in the Florence often move to the Ophelia as they advance in their training.
How does the ProForm EcoFlexâ„¢ fabric hold up in class?
The Ophelia is made from ProForm EcoFlexâ„¢, Energetiks’ performance fabric crafted from recycled plastic bottles. The material has a smooth, soft feel with four-way stretch — it moves with the dancer rather than resisting. Moisture-wicking properties draw sweat away from the skin and help the garment dry quickly, which matters during active class work.
The fabric is also anti-pill, so after repeated washing it keeps the same neat appearance it had when new. For a weekly-wash garment, that durability is something parents notice over the course of a full dance year.

A Note from August MuseThe Ophelia is the leotard we reach for when a dancer is settling into a regular ballet or classical dance program and the studio expects a more tailored look. The princess seaming makes a real difference on the body — it just looks more intentional than a basic cut. It’s also one of the more widely accepted uniform styles across studio programs, which makes it a smart investment if you’re buying for a full season.
Not sure whether to go with the Florence or the Ophelia? Come in and we’ll help you sort it out based on your dancer’s studio requirements and where they are in their training.
